Real Madrid boss Carlo Ancelotti has shed light on the reason behind the club’s refusal to sign Napoli and Super Eagles striker Victor Osimhen.
Osimhen, who is regarded as one of the best center forwards in Europe, has frequently been linked with a move to Real Madrid.
Following Karim Benzema’s departure last summer, there was a lot of conjecture that Osimhen would sign with the big Spanish teams.
The 25-year-old attacker was thought to be an ideal fit for Real Madrid, having just led Napoli to a Serie A championship.
Real Madrid, however, did not even submit an offer for Osimhen, so no deal was reached.

“He made a strong generational change, managing to buy important players, especially one of the strongest strikers in Europe, Osimhen. And this radical change allowed him to win,” Ancelotti said, per Area Napoli.
When asked on Real Madrid’s rumoured interest in Osimhen, he responded, “No, because I think the club thought that Benzema’s absence could be remedied by purchasing Bellingham.”
A decision which actually paid off, taking into considerations, the English man’s contributions in his debut season for the Galacticos.
Osimhen on the other hand could not replicate his impressive record the following season. However, the prolific striker managed a decent 15 goals in 25 league games.
