Trabzonspor are interested in signing Nigerian forward Paul Onuachu permanently after a good performance last season on loan with the club Sportsbuddy.ng reports.
The Super Eagles striker signed for Trabzonspor on loan from Southampton during the summer of 2023 transfer window and was an instant success.
Improved Offer for Eagles Striker
Since the expiration of his loan spell, Trabzonspor have been in talks with Southampton for a permanent deal. Turkish news outlet 61saat reports that Trabzonspor have upped their bid to €6 million plus 25% of any future sale.
They are now waiting for Southampton’s decision. Trabzonspor’s coach has said that the Super Eagles striker continues to talk with him, and he wants to return. “Three to four days ago we spoke to Paul Onuachu, he also wants to join us…
At the moment I can’t tell whether it will happen or not, our president is working on it…Let us wait,” said the coach.
Strengthening the Squad
Paul Onuachu best demonstrated his individual performance during the Turkish Cup final match. He opened the scoring for the club in the 13th minute with a brilliant solo goal against Besiktas.
Onuachu got a pass close to the touchline, feigned to get past the defender and did a good run to beat the keeper. Achieving this goal raised his tally for the season to 17 goals in 25 games for Trabzonspor.
Trabzonspor are ready for a new season and continue to strengthen their lineup. Recently they have signed another Nigerian player by the name of Anthony Nwakaeme.
