Spain is targeting their fourth European championship and their first major title since 2012 and they are undefeated to the final.
La Roja dominated Group B, thrashed Georgia in the round of 16, eliminated hosts Germany in the quarterfinals, and defeated France in the semifinal with young star Lamine Yamal being instrumental in the team’s comeback.
England’s Challenging Path
It has been a bumpy ride for England on their way to the final. Southgate’s team had only one group stage win and had to play nervy knockout games.
They only edged past Slovakia in the last moments of the match through Jude Bellingham and then had to win a rather tense penalty shootout against Switzerland in the quarter-final.
A last-gasp equalizer from Ollie Watkins against the Netherlands saw England qualify for consecutive Euro finals.
Redknapp’s Confidence
Even though the Three Lions has been quite inconsistent in the tournament, former Premier League manager Harry Redknapp is optimistic.
He is convinced that Spain will be ‘scared to death’ of the threat posed by Bellingham.
The 21-year-old, who was recently awarded the La Liga Player of the Year after scoring 23 goals and contributing to Real Madrid’s triumphs in both Champions League and league tournament, is regarded as England’s main hope.
Speaking to The Sun, Redknapp said: “I’m convinced we will do it. ”“I have always believed that this is our time…When you compare the two teams, man for man, we are better than Spain.
“England have a lot more for Spain to worry about, especially Jude Bellingham they will be scared to death of facing him” .
