Former England head coach and 2010 Eredivisie winner Steve McClaren is being considered by the Nigerian Football Federation (NFF) to take over the as coach of the Super Eagles.

Following Finidi George’s resignation, the NFF have been in search of a new manager, with the team being linked to several coaches, including two-time African Cup of Nations winner Herve Renard, as previously reported by Sports Buddy.
Recent reports from Score Nigeria claims that McClaren has also been shortlisted as a potential candidate for the Super Eagles head coach position.
McClaren’s managerial career

Before , McClaren started his coaching career at Oxford United before moving to Derby County in 1995. He later joined Manchester United in 1999 as Sir Alex Ferguson’s assistant manager.
After spells at Oxford, Derby and United, McClaren was appointed manager of Middlesbrough, where guided the team to its first major championship, the League Cup in 2004, and to the 2006 UEFA Cup final.
The 63-year-old manager was named England’s manager in 2006, but was later fired following the team’s failure to qualify for EURO 2008.
After that, he managed Dutch side Twente, where he won the 2010 Eredivisie title.
However, he had less success in subsequent spells at Nottingham Forest, Derby County, Newcastle United, VfL Wolfsburg, and Queens Park Rangers.
