West Ham United is among the Premier League clubs to announce new academy scholars for the next season.
Among them is Majid Balogun, who have been signed from Manchester United on a two-year scholarship contract.
Balogun’s Move from Manchester United
The Premier League rules state that a player who is U17 years and older must be on a scholarship contract at the beginning of the season. They can sign their first professional contract on or after their 17th birthday. ”
Balogun, Goalkeeper Olanrewaju Awesu and midfielder Chinaza Nwosu are some of the nine new scholars qualified to play for the Golden Eaglets.
Balogun, who has not featured in Manchester United’s U18 team during his schoolboy contract, will now go on and develop at West Ham as announced on their official website.
Other reports from Sportsbuddy revealed that Wayne Rooney’s Plymouth Argyle has signed Nigerian Flying Eagles Mohamed Tijani striker to club.
West Ham academy manager Kenny Brown described Balogun as an exciting fast wide player who can also chip in with goals.
Academy Aspirations
Balogun started his football journey with a grassroots club known as Lambeth Tigers before joining Manchester United for two years.
At West Ham, he wants to emulate other academy talents who have made their senior debut for the team including Armstrong Okoflex, Mipo Odubeko, Manny Omoyinmi and Ajibola Alese.
