Super Eagles midfielder Alex Iwobi has come out to explain why he released a song entitled ‘Don’t Shoot’ while collaborating with his fellow players Chuba Akpom and Medy Elito.
The ex-footballer who played for Arsenal says that the words of this song are written to fight the dangerous tendencies of youth in London and to inspire young people to have different, better goals.
Inspiration and Intent
With our powers, we are trying to say don’t do that, channel it into something else. Whether it is football or music, anything that keeps you on the straight path is what we are trying to show everyone.
Balancing Passions
”Alex Iwobi has always been a fan of music, and while he had never planned on recording a song, his friends persuaded him otherwise. ”
Alex Iwobi said, “it was something where my friends agreed that the music is actually decent, why don’t you release it?’
So, we thought let’s release it at the right time and not get distracted, because the main focus will always be football But at the same time, I am more than just a footballer. I am human, like everyone else. ”
Fulham’s Season and Iwobi’s Plans
Iwobi produced the track during the summer holidays after making massive impacts for Fulham in the 2023-24 season.
In the Premier League, he found the back of the net five times and contributed two assists in 30 appearances for Fulham where the club claimed the 13th position while also reaching the semi-finals of the Carabao Cup.
With the new season on the horizon, Iwobi intends to concentrate solely on football, beginning with the Premier League match between Fulham and Manchester United on the 16th of August.
