At the center of this historic accomplishment is Akomolede Babatunde, football’s newest sensation, whose remarkable throw-in abilities have enthralled the football world.
Babatunde’s ability to turn throw-ins into powerful scoring opportunities played a key role in how the tournament turned out in favour of Sporting Lagos.
In a thrilling 5-4 triumph, he recorded a hat-trick of assists via throw-ins during his team’s semifinal matchup with Beyond Limits, another Nigerian team.
Babatunde continued his excellent form against FC Tokyo in the final. Sporting Lagos dominated the game and won 4-0, with Babatunde finishing off the effort with a powerful goal of his own.
When asked where his special gift came from, Babatunde modestly replied in a post-match interview:

That’s the name. His ability to turn throw ins into proper set piece scenarios has been a great asset to the team so far.
