Manchester United manager Erik Ten Hag has a message for suitors interested in acquiring the services of Scottish midfielder Scot McTominay.
Ten Hag has revealed that the club has no intentions of letting the 27-year-old midfielder leave Old Trafford this summer, despite interests from West Ham, Galatasaray, Tottenham and Fulham.
Despite a rollercoaster 2023–2024 campaign that saw Manchester United finish eighth on the Premier League table, McTominay emerged as one of the club’s best performers, with quite a number of his goals proving crucial and making the season less disappointing for the Red Devils.
An underwhelming campaign, which was however, salvaged by a surprising FA Cup triumph over Manchester City, also proved pivotal in helping Ten Hag secure his job at the club, and the Dutch manager has revealed that he has no intentions of letting one of his best players leave this summer.
Erik Ten Hag on keeping McTominay
“We have very good players so there will always be an interest from other clubs,” Ten Hag said, when asked about McTominay’s future as quoted by Forbes.
“When you score 10 goals in a season and also perform very good for Scotland, then there will be an interest.
“But we want to keep him because he is a very important player for our squad,” he added.
Erik Ten Hag will be hoping to have McTominay back in the squad following the 27-year-old’s Euro 2024 tournament, where his team, Scotland, crashed out in the group stage.
Meanwhile, Sports Buddy reported in other news that Manchester United’s new acquisition Leny Yoro put up an impressive performance on his debut as the Red Devils recorded a 2-0 victory over Scottish side Rangers.
