Marcus Rashford may seem moody, but he can still be a key player for Manchester United.
While giving just eight goals last season after netting 30 goals in the 2022-23 season, Manchester United’s club legend Mark Hughes argued that letting him go would be insane.
Rashford has not been having a good season, and there seem to be a friction between him and Erik ten Hag, United’s manager.
Mark Hughes’ Advice to United
Hughes, who left United for a failed tenure at Barcelona, claims that Rashford is still work in progress. He boasts if United can bring back the best out of Rashford again, they’ll have a world beater.
This is similar to what Rashford went through in terms of perception and performance, according to Hughes. He tells the club to understand that Rashford is a valuable player and the focus should be on helping him regain his confidence and return to his best.
Highes believe that BOTH sides could get it wrong if Rashford departs the club.
“They just tried to get the best deal for United when, deep down, I didn’t really want to go.
“Deep down I wanted United to say to me ‘Listen, you’re not going, we’ll make you happy here’.
“I wasn’t on great money. I think six months before I left for Barca I was on £150 a week — not exactly a huge amount of money even then.
However in a previous report from SportsBuddy, Manchester United striker Marcus Rashford, has been handed a 6-months driving ban, after being caught exceeding the speed limit in his Rolls Royce some months ago.
“But it was never about the money. I just wanted them to tell me ‘you’re here for the next five years and let’s get on with it’.
“That never happened. There were too many assumptions that I wanted to go which wasn’t the case.
“I’m sure, still, that United ARE telling Marcus what I wanted to hear back then. They would be crazy not to be doing that.
The Road Ahead for Rashford
The last few weeks have seen Rashford engage in a fallout with ten Hag and being stripped off his place in the England team.
Audiences have also grown tired of him and what they believe to be his lack of passion. However, Hughes thinks that Rashford might be an introverted character and what Rashford said might have been misconstrued.
He recalls his own experiences, where he was not very loud, but he had a passion and desire in him.
According to Hughes, Rashford can get back to loving football and become the goal-machine striker yet again if only he receives the right encouragement.
In conclusion, it remains to state that as long as Rashford remains a Manchester United player, Hughes’ points need to be taken into consideration as the talented forward deserves another chance.
However, the chance still exists for Rashford to recapture his best form and create further memories at Old Trafford.
