Crystal Palace have expressed their surprise after Ryan Sessegnon turned down their advances to re-join Fulham, the club he left for Tottenham Hotspur.
Sessegnon had been training with the Eagles throughout the summer and Palace had been in talks with him.
Oliver Glasner’s side had intended to tie up the deal for Sessegnon and take him on a tour of the United States.
Crystal Palace Hopes Dashed
Sessegnon was at Craven Cottage for three seasons between 2016 and 2019 before joining Tottenham at £25 million only for him to fail to establish himself with the Spurs.
According to othe transfer reports from Sportsbuddy, Ligue 1 side AS Monaco confirmed the capture of Lagos born seventeen years old prodigy George Ilenikhena who had a splendid season at Royale Antwerp.
He was a free agent since his Spurs contract was set to expire this summer. The Athletic have revealed that Ryan Sessegnon is expected to have a medical test with Fulham on Thursday, making Fulham the only club to sign a player in this transfer window.
However, the team has not stopped building on its squad yet. They are now on the verge of signing a former Premier league player for £12 million and they have also made other big movements in the market.
Admiration from Mourinho
On the other hand, Fulham aims to find a replacement for Joao Palhinha, who left the club for Bayern Munich in a £42 million deal, by making an enquiry on Manchester United’s Scott McTominay.
While Sessegnon received poor coaching from Ange Postecoglou at Spurs, he had a good relationship with former coach, Jose Mourinho.
The Portuguese coach described Sessegnon as an ‘absolutely fantastic’ player, which is something that Fulham wants to see again.
It is the latest plot twist concerning Ryan Sessegnon, and both Crystal Palace and Fulham will strive to enhance their performance based on their transfer activities in the future seasons.
