Former Chelsea midfielder John Obi Mikel has weighed in on the hot-button Ballon d’Or debate as he names the deserved winner of the award.

Mikel heaped praise on Manchester City and Spain star Rodri, calling him the ‘best player in the world’ due to the 28-year-old midfielder’s heroics at Euro 2024.
“The best player I think for me, in my opinion in the world now is Rodri,” he stated in the video shared on YouTube.
The Spanish midfielder played a major part in helping City win the Premier League for a record fourth consecutive time. He then took the impressive form to the Euro 2024, helping Spain to their fourth European Championship triumph.

Rodri’s achievements and triumph with Spain have now firmly placed him in the running for this year’s Ballon d’Or.
Sports Buddy reported that the 28-year-old currently leads the 2024 Ballon d’Or power rankings, following his impressive display at the recently concluded Euro tournament in Germany.
Mikel is not the only one who shares this sentiment.
