Riccardo Calafiori has been signed by Mikel Arteta which has been applauded by former Arsenal defender William Gallas who believes the team had a strong defence.
The Italian footballer, who can be deployed both in central defence as well as in the left-back position, will be joining the ranks of Arsenal after the recent development in the transfer talks.
Calafiori’s Arrival and Implications
Calafiori is expected to travel to London on Friday for a medical. If successful, he will be in Arsenal’s pre-season tour in America.
In a recent report from Sportsbuddy, Chelsea has finalized the signing of Aaron Anselmino, the 2005-born Argentinian center-back, from Boca Juniors.
It can also present difficulties for Jakub Kiwior and Oleksandr Zinchenko. Kiwior has failed to make Arteta’s bench and has been linked with a move back to Serie A especially Inter Milan.
Zinchenko while performing well initially after his transfer from Manchester City has struggled and has had his fair share of injuries.
Gallas claimed information from a friend of the young Italian footballer, saying, “Ricardo Calafiori is really, really good. He is young and has good quality and can play as a center-back or left-back. ”
According to Gallas, Calafiori would be an ideal candidate because there is a lot of uncertainty with the current options that the Arsenal has at left back.
William Gallas On Zinchenko
‘He makes mistakes when under pressure,’ Gallas said, it may well be the case that Arsenal’s tactical approach no longer fits Zinchenko.
The Premier League, where Arsenal had the best defense line in the previous season, will become even stronger with Calafiori.
