Early reports from The Athletic claim ex-Manchester United goalkeeper, David de Gea is on the verge of signing for Genoa in Italy.
The 33-year-old Spanish player has been without a club since leaving the Old Trafford in July last year. He played 545 games for United before departing from the club after 12 years.
Interest from Multiple Clubs
According to reports, De Gea who spent four years at United and won eight trophies was being eyed by clubs in Italy, USA, and Saudi Arabia. Another club from England had also shown interest in signing him.
The Spaniard was later replaced by Andre Onana who joined the club from Inter Milan, the Cameroonian hasn’t had it easy in his first season.
Andre Onana who shipped in over 60goals also became the first goalkeeper to face over 200shots in a single Premier league campaign as previously reported by Sportsbuddy.
Clarification on Genoa Rumors
There were rumours of the Spaniard joining Genoa in Italy which has been reported by Fabrizio Romano to be untrue.
The new goalkeeper for Genoa will be former Spurs player Pierluigi Gollini, joining from Atalanta.
Gollini is set to travel to Genova tonight for medical tests while De Gea, who will be celebrating his 34th birthday in November this year, has been teasing people about his next decision on the social media platforms.
However, his transfer to Genoa will not happen as has been rumoured in the past.
