Mikel Arteta has been urged to sign Manchester City forward Julian Alvarez in a bid to take Arsenal ‘up a gear’.
The Argentine international is on the radar of the Gunners as the manager seeks to bolster his attacking options ahead of the new campaign.
Although the team has put up a spirited fight for the English Premier League title in the last two seasons, some critics say the team requires the services of a new striker.
Former Arsenal player, William Gallas, has described Alvarez as a great signing who has the potential to enhance the ability of the team.
Julian Alvarez’s Potential Move
During the recent interviews, Alvarez suggested that he could leave Manchester City and returned to Argentina, where he is a backup of Erling Haaland.
‘Julian Alvarez would be a great signing for Mikel Arteta,’ Gallas said to Genting Casino. He is a world champion, Copa America winner, Premier League champion, and Champions League winner.
Sportsbuddy reported earlier that William Gallas weighed in on Zinchenko’s diminishing role, stating that he uses the ball well, and is good when City is trying to counter-attack but his defensive flaws are glaring..
He has featured in most of City’s big matches and is a regular starter for Argentina. Hence he’d bring a lot of winning mentality to Arsenal and he seems willing to spend as much time on the pitch as possible.
According to Gallas, Alvarez would be a great addition to Arsenal due to his willingness to play in different positions.
‘Alvarez can make Arsenal the next level. No matter whether he can net 20 goals or not, he can play on the flank or behind the striker and be very effective.’
Future of Julian Alvarez
Alvarez has a contract until 2028, but stated that he will weigh his prospects after the Olympics.
‘There is a lot of talk,’ he said. “I am aiming for the Olympics because it is a short tournament. At Manchester City, I have been playing well and lots of minutes. We will see after Olympics. ”
Alvarez signed for Manchester City in 2022 from River Plate and has 36 goals to his name having played 103 games.
Arteta, who served as Pep Guardiola’s assistant at the City, has brought Gabriel Jesus and Oleksandr Zinchenko to Arsenal.
