Arsenal are reportedly keeping a close eye on Julian Alvarez after the Manchester City striker hinted at a potential move.
Alvarez has had tremendous success since joining Manchester City two years ago. He has won the FA Cup, the Champions League, and back-to-back Premier League championships.
The 24-year-old striker has also won the World Cup and Copa America with Argentina, giving him international glory.
Situations surrounding possible move from Manchester City
Even though he played more minutes than most of his colleagues in the previous season, Alvarez has complained about not being included in the most important games.
After Argentina was eliminated from the Olympics, Alvarez stated he would need some time to consider his future, which put Arsenal on high alert, according to The Mirror.
Although the Gunners think highly of Alvarez, they might be hesitant to pay City’s £80 million asking price.
Although Alvarez is highly valued by Manchester City, Pep Guardiola has stated in the past that he would not stop a disgruntled player from leaving.
Possibilities of a move to Arsenal
Arsenal were not planning to invest in a marquee signing after their acquisitions of Riccardo Calafiori and David Raya, but they would reportedly make an exception for Alvarez.
To finance the move, they might sell academy graduates Reiss Nelson and Eddie Nketiah, who have been linked with Leicester and Marseille respectively.
Alvarez has also drawn interest from Chelsea, Paris Saint-Germain, and Atletico Madrid following his cryptic remarks about his future.
