Leicester City has released Kelechi Iheanacho after failing to renew his contract for the following season of the 2023/24 season.
According to a previous report from Sportsbuddy, the 27-year-old forward, who signed for Leicester in August 2017 from Manchester City for £25 million, scored 61 goals and made 34 assists for the Foxes across 232 matches.
Kelechi Iheanacho’s New Chapter at Sevilla
Newly-signed Sevilla FC striker Kelechi Iheanacho reveals how he bagged the nickname “Senior Man.”
The nickname is commonly used to refer to the Super Eagles forward by his colleagues and football fans in Nigeria.
Iheanacho described how he received the nickname and added that he has been using it throughout his career.
During an interview with Sevilla’s club website, he stated, “One day, Wilfred Ndidi, Daniel Amartey, and I were walking; they began calling me ‘Senior Man. We laughed and recorded some videos, and gradually, everyone started using the name.”
Embracing New Opportunities
Iheanacho signed for the seven-time Europa League champions after his Leicester City contract ended on June 30.
While several clubs were interested in the Nigerian forward, Sevilla was his preferred destination.
When being asked about his transfer to Sevilla, he responded that there were many offers from various clubs, but Sevilla clearly knew what they wanted from me and why they signed me.
Looking at the environment and the performance of the Sevilla, I knew that this is where I wanted to be and I am ready to take up this challenge.
He is the second Nigerian to sign for the Andalusian team this summer after Chidera Ejuke.
