Manchester United boss Erik Ten Hag has revealed that he could deploy either Jadon Sancho or Bruno Fernandes as make-shift center forwards in the absence of injured Danish striker Rasmus Hojlund.
The Red Devils are facing a striker dilemma ahead of the upcoming Premier League season, with Hojlund ruled out with a hamstring injury and the club’s newest recruit, Joshua Zirkzee, only returning to training and currently not match fit.
Ten Hag on plans for Jadon Sancho

Jadon Sancho, who recently reconciled with his boss Ten Hag, following his loan move to Borussia Dortmund, after a dispute last month, may be used as a false nine, according to the Dutch manager.
The Dutchman is also thinking about playing Fernandes in a more forward role, even if that is not the midfielder’s usual position.
“That is what we can do if we don’t have the availability of Rasmus,” said Ten Hag when asked about Sancho and Fernandes playing as strikers, per The New York Times.
He continued, “Of course, Joshua Zirkzee is coming in. He has started training. But he is not so long in training so it will take time and he has to adjust to English football and our way of playing.
“Jadon can of course play as a striker. He can also play in wide areas but it could be he is a good option. I think Marcus has done it before, he can do it and it is definitely an option.
“I think he is more productive from the left inside when he is coming inside, so when he can arrive there he is most effective.
“But we also have Bruno Fernandes as a striker as well.”
Manchester United will be looking to bounce back from a disappointing 3-0 loss against Liverpool in their final preseason game, when they take on rivals Manchester City in the Community Shield on August 11.
