William Gallas has raised concerns that Chelsea coach Enzo Maresca might be dismissed before Christmas.
Maresca has struggled since signing for Stamford Bridge this summer from Leicester City.
Speaking of Chelsea’s recent pre-season tour of the USA, Gallas mentioned that the team has been rather unsuccessful, having won only one out of four, and having recently been beaten by Manchester City 4-2.
Gallas expressed his concerns to Genting Casino ‘Even in this pre-season, I am worried about Chelsea and I am worried when I look at the players they have. ’
William Gallas recently suggested to Mikel Arteta in a report from Sportsbuddy to swoop for Manchester City’s Julian Alvarez.
‘Despite all the money spent, the team is still short of quality and they need more players to qualify for champions league. ’
Squad Quality and Managerial Turnover
Gallas was still able to question the quality of the squad at Chelsea despite the hefty investment with £1 billion spent on transfers since Boehly took over in May 2022.
However, such important investments call into question the ability of the squad to perform at the highest level.
Discussing Maresca’s possible dismissal, Gallas said, “Can Enzo Maresca be sacked before the Christmas break? Anything can happen in football. “
The manager pointed out that owners of the clubs in the Premier League are impatient, unlike Arsenal, who have stood by Mikel Arteta, and Manchester United, with Erik ten Hag.
Potential Managerial Change
However, Gallas also is concerned about Enzo Maresca, praying Chelsea will allow him the time he requires.
“I hope to see him stay until at least the end of the season and get that opportunity to show what he can do but it’s always going to be the same problem.”
“If he doesn’t have the right players and team to compete in the Premier League then it will be incredibly difficult for him. ”
