According to reports, Lionel Messi’s Ibiza mansion was broken into and vandalised by the climate extremist group Futuro Vegetal.
Two members of the group were seen in the back garden of Messi’s house, which was covered in a thick layer of red and white paint.
They appeared to have entered the garden, holding a placard that read, “Help the planet, eat the rich, abolish the police.”
Group’s message after their action
Justifying their actions, the extremist group wrote on X, according to The Mirror: “We tinted Messi ‘s illegal mansion in Ibiza. The Mansion is an illegal construction that the footballer acquired for the exorbitant sum of 11 million euros. While this is happening, in the Balearic Islands alone between 2 and 4 people have died as a direct consequence of the heat wave.
“The richest 1% of the population is responsible for the same amount of carbon emissions as the poorest two-thirds. This is only possible because public authorities support an economic-social system that threatens life.
“While the far right blames migrants for the crisis and displays extreme violence against them, those of us who fight for a better world are clear that the problem is social inequality. Let’s tackle the problems at the root. We need a radical change of system to face the Climate Crisis.”
About Lionel Messi’s mansion
It is understood that Messi was not at the property when the incident happened.
The mansion, which was purchased in 2022, serves as a holiday retreat destination, where he and his wife Antonela and their three children have often been captured enjoying themselves.
This incident comes a few days after the 8-time Ballon d’Or winner made the news due to an incident involving his wife.
Lionel Messi’s wife, Antonela, was captured spying on his phone, which made fans wonder if the Inter Miami star was cheating on the mother of three.
