Manchester United fans were left fuming after witnessing Andre Onana’s attempts at mind games during the Community Shield shootout.
The Red Devils lost 7-6 at Wembley on penalties after missing opportunities in their 1-1 draw with Pep Guardiola’s team.
After Jonny Evans’ attempt went over the crossbar, Manuel Akanji scored the game-winning penalty kick to spare the champions from losing to the FA Cup winners at Wembley for the second time in a row.
Alejandro Garnacho, who came in as a substitute United replacement, seemed to have won it with a magnificent solo goal, with ten minutes left in normal time.
But Bernardo Silva restored parity in the 89th minute, forcing the game to penalties.
Andre Onana’s penalty shootout gimmick

During the penalty shootout, Onana was seen trying to play mind games with Erling Haaland, in a bid to unsettle the Norwegian striker.
The Cameroonian shot-stopper pointed to the vast area to his left, perhaps daring the Norwegian ace to attempt a shot there.
The ice-cold Haaland stepped forward to take his kick, and Onana, who had only saved Silva’s first penalty, kept throwing his arms in that direction.

But the United goalkeeper’s strategy backfired as he dived the wrong way, allowing Haaland to coolly slot the ball into the net in the direction he had pointed.
This occurs after Onana was found guilty of the same antics during United’s exhibition preseason penalty shootout against Arsenal in Los Angeles last month.
