Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City began their new campaign by winning the Community Shield defeating Manchester United through a penalty shootout at Wembley.
The match ended in a dramatic manner with United taking the lead through Alejandro Garnacho in the 82nd minute but an equalizer from Bernardo Silva took the match straight into penalties.
In the shootout, while Silva failed to score his penalty and United had the advantage, Jadon Sancho and Jonny Evans also failed to convert their spot kicks, allowing City to claim the trophy.

Guardiola said that Bobb has the quality to do a Palmer like last season if only he is given more playing time.
‘That would be great because Cole Palmer’s success at Chelsea last season was unbelievable,’ Guardiola replied when asked if Bobb could emulate Palmer’s achievements.
“He was one of the best two or three players in the Premier League as well as his impact at the Euros.”
City’s academy remains as strong as ever, and Bobb looks set to follow in the footsteps of becoming the next big talent to come through the ranks and play under Guardiola.
