Manchester City star Erling Haaland has finally gotten his pound of flesh against Marc Cucurella, following the Chelsea man’s jibe during his country’s Euro 2024 triumph ceremony.
The Norwegian striker scored the first goal in their season opener against Chelsea, where he bodied the Spanish defender to slot the ball past a helpless Robert Sanchez.

Haaland also had another opportunity to exact greater revenge when he snubbed Cucurella, who was helplessly lying on the floor after being struck by cramp. Despite Cucurella’s pleas for help, Haaland walked past unconcerned.
Manchester City won the game 2-0, with Mateo Kovacic sealing the victory for the defending champions as Pep Guardiola’s side began their title defense in perfect fashion.
After the victory, Erling Haaland, was questioned about his situation with Cucurella. The 24-year-old striker responded, implying that the Chelsea left-back is confused.
What Erling Haaland said
Haaland revealed in the post-match interview that the 26-year-old had requested his shirt the previous season, which appeared to surprise the City attacker.
“Well, Cucurella is a funny man. Last season he asked for my shirt… and this summer he sings a song about me,” Erling Haaland said in a post shared by Fabrizio Romano on X (formerly Twitter).
Erling Haaland, having kicked off the campaign with a goal against Chelsea, will aim to score many more, with hopes of helping Manchester City secure a historic fifth consecutive Premier League title.
