Bayer Leverkusen attacker Victor Boniface has been handed a one-match suspension and a huge fine after being found guilty of unsportsmanlike conduct during his team’s German Super Cup victory over VfB Stuttgart.
Sports Buddy recently reported that the 23-year-old attacker risks being suspended and could also be subjected to a fine after being accused of making an offensive gesture towards the Stuttgart players.
The Super Eagles forward reportedly raised his middle finger to the opposition players as he ran past them following Leverkusen’s dramatic 4-3 victory on penalties.
Following complaints from the Stuttgart players, the German FA launched an investigation into the case and has now issued a verdict.
Victor Boniface’s punishment

The verdict, announced on Wednesday by the DFB sports court, states that Victor Boniface will be banned from participating in one DFB Cup match and fined €25,000 (approximately ₦43.8 million).
The Nigerian international, Victor Boniface, and his club, Bayer Leverkusen, have accepted the verdict, making the suspension and fine legally binding.
Boniface’s action during the Super Cup triumph has marred what was otherwise a celebratory moment for Leverkusen.
