Barely two games into the new season, Arsenal have been dealt a huge blow as striker Gabriel Jesus is ruled out of their Premier League clash against Aston Villa.
Jesus had intended to get past his injury woes and be in a fully fit state for the 2024–2025 season.
Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta had expressed optimism, saying that the Brazilian striker had come into preseason with “different energy.” Jesus made an impression in Arsenal’s friendlies at the Emirates and in the US.
Jesus Gabriel ruled out of Arsenal’s clash against Aston Villa
Jesus was not in the starting lineup for last weekend’s league opener against Wolverhampton Wanderers. However, the 27-year-old striker came on as a substitute before having an altercation with a defender from the opposing team.
But now, Jesus will not be available for the matchday 2 encounter with Aston Villa.
According to reports from reliable Arsenal insider @Teamnewsandtix, Jesus did not travel with the squad to the West Midlands after picking up a groin injury.
The extent of the striker’s injury is unknown, but he will be absent from today’s match at Villa Park, while Kai Havertz leads the attack once again.
