A football match in the lower division of the French league was abandoned as a result of a massive fire outbreak in the fans’ bar in the stadium.
The game, which was initially suspended, was eventually abandoned due to players being hurried off the field for their safety.
The third division match between US Orleans and Valenciennes was canceled at 1-1, and spectators were asked to vacate the Stade de la Source.
A video posted by Orleans’ official account on X captured smoke coming from the refreshments area, appearing to be from a cooking fire.

Fans, many with their noses covered, started to climb down from the stands, and soon the pitch was coated in thick, deadly vapors.
Children and other onlookers were seen scurrying to safety.
Official statement from the French division
The Championnat National official account on X account wrote, “Match interrupted between Orleans and Valenciennes.
“The fire was put out but the match will not resume tonight. Strength to all supporters present on site and at the club.”
An hour after the incident, a fan group informed fellow supporters that there had been no casualties.
