Pep Guardiola has finally broken his silence regarding the 115 charges leveled against his club.
Manchester City face a legal battle over 115 alleged violations of Financial Fair Play rules between 2009 and 2018.
The club could be relegated if found guilty, but they have maintained their innocence.
Sports Buddy previously reported that a Premier League club executive revealed that Manchester City could face a significant points deduction if they are convicted of FFP regulation violations.
According to The Independent, the trial is scheduled to start in the fall, and it is hoped that the decision will be rendered prior to the conclusion of the current season. Guardiola, though, insists that City would accept the ruling without contesting it.
What Pep Guardiola said
In a recent interview, Pep Guardiola said he was eager to see the case resolved quickly.
“I am happy that it starts soon and hopefully it will finish soon, for the benefit of all of us, especially the club but also other Premier League clubs and all the people who don’t wait for the sentence,” he said, as per Goal.
The Spanish manager urged the FA to bring on whatever judgment they have, and his team would take it gracefully.
“I wish, from the deep in my heart, go to the trial, the independent panel – and I say again, independent panel – and as soon as possible, release what happened and we will accept like always we have done.”
Back to on-field matters, Manchester City is set to face newly promoted Ipswich Town in the Premier League this weekend. City will be aiming to secure three points and make it two wins in a row this season while they continue their quest to win the EPL for an unprecedented five times in a row.
