Manchester United forward Marcus Rashford drew the ire of ex-England striker and English Premier League legend Alan Shearer after the Red Devils’ 2-1 loss to Brighton at the Amex Stadium on Saturday.

Alan Shearer’s Striking Credentials

Alan Shearer, who scored 260 goals in 441 Premier League appearances, supported his worries by mentioning United’s 57 goals scored during the previous season, which was two goals less than any other team in the league.

His criticisms were more direct towards Rashford, who has not reproduced his previous season form this season.

Rashford was one of United’s most crucial players in the 2022/23 season, where the striker scored 30 goals and made 10 assists in 56 matches, however, he has struggled to replicate that form ever since.

The Brighton match was an unimpressive match where he failed to register a shot and was flagged offside two times, which has elicited Shearer’s wrath.

Shearer also highlighted that Rashford’s age and experience should help him avoid such mistakes.

“He’s not a youngster anymore,” Shearer said, stressing that Rashford should have better positional awareness at this stage of his career.

In a recent report from Sportsbuddy,  Marcus Rashford was involved in another car crash, this time with a fellow teammate, adding to a series of highway troubles he’s encountered in recent months.

Ruud van Nistelrooy joins new coaching team at Manchester United

Rashford has been said to be practicing personal drills with the assistance of the former Manchester United greatest striker, Ruud van Nistelrooy, who has now returned to the club as an assistant coach.

Van Nistelrooy, who netted 150 goals in 219 appearances for United, is tipped to help Rashford rediscover goalscoring form.

United will require Rashford at their best as they are set to face Liverpool in the much anticipated north-western derby in Sunday’s fixture at the Old Trafford.
