GOAT FOR A REASON! Cristiano Ronaldo beats Lionel Messi to bag special UEFA award

Cristiano Ronaldo is set to receive special honour from UEFA for scoring the most goals in Champions League history, according to Madrid Xtra.

Amid numerous records held by none other than Ronaldo, the Al Nassr star is the all-time highest goal scorer in the UCL, having scored an astonishing 140 goals in 183 appearances, 11 more than Lionel Messi, who comes in second place.

Cristiano Ronaldo’s illustrious career began with Portuguese side Sporting in 2002, followed by stints at Manchester United, Real Madrid, and Juventus.

The 39-year-old will be honored with the award at the Champions League group stage draw ceremony in Monaco on Thursday.

UEFA president Aleksander Ceferin lauded Ronaldo, stating, “Cristiano Ronaldo is one of the brightest stars in the UEFA Champions League constellation. His extraordinary goal-scoring achievements in the competition seem destined to stand the test of time, posing a remarkable challenge for future generations to surpass.”

Ronaldo’s journey to Champions League glory began in 2007, when he scored his first goal in the competition. He went on to win the trophy five times: once with Manchester United in 2008 and four times with Real Madrid from 2014 to 2018.

Additionally, Ronaldo holds the record for most goals scored in Champions League finals with four. His achievements are truly extraordinary, and it remains to be seen if anyone can break his records in the years to come.
