Wesley Fofana has refuted social media allegations that accused him of miming a phone conversation to avoid fans after Chelsea’s 6-2 success against Wolves.
After the outstanding victory that saw Noni Madueke score a hat-trick and Nicolas Jackson, Cole Palmer, and Joao Felix score goals as reported previously by Sportsbuddy, Chelsea players met a group of fans outside the stadium.
Unlike other players who interact with fans, Wesley Fofana walked past as if he were on call.
This left fans speculating that it was a deliberate attempt at not engaging with anyone.
Wesley Fofana;s Response
Subsequently, Fofana elaborated, affirming that he was on a call and that he had taken pictures with fans after putting his things in the team bus.
He wrote on X: “Hahaha, people are crazy. I got a call, and then I went to put my bag in the bus. After that, I took pictures with the fans.”

Chelsea’s Victory and Manager’s Thoughts
Chelsea secured their first Premier League victory of the new campaign after dominating Wolves.
Nonetheless, manager Enzo Maresca accepted that the team is still in transition to his playing style.
He pointed out that although players could be seen to be gradually progressing, especially in the aspect of space, more can still be accomplished in other areas, such as passing and corresponding tactical understanding.
“In some moments we started to see our team,” he explained.
“There are many things the players are still learning. Sometimes we can play quicker, sometimes slower.
“It’s with time we are going to improve.”
Fofana’s clarification and Chelsea’s strong performance are positive, as the team continues to work on adapting to Maresca’s system.
