Manchester United have been hit with another injury blow as midfielder Mason Mount is set to be sidelined for 4-5 weeks with a hamstring injury.
Manchester United injury woes continues
Mount joins the likes of Leny Yoro and Rasmus Hojlund on United’s list of injured players, having picked up a knock last weekend against Brighton & Hove Albion.
The 25-year-old was taken off at halftime during the defeat to Brighton as a precaution after complaining of an injury to United’s staff.
According to a confirmation by the club, Mount has been ruled out of Sunday’s clash with Liverpool at Old Trafford, and he is not expected to return until at least after the September international break.
The England international also confirmed this on his Instagram, saying,
“I’ve had it checked and it looks like I’ll be out for a few games. Leading up to and during pre-season, I worked hard to get my fitness back to where it needs to be and I felt re-energised, sharp and ready.
“I wanted you to hear it directly from me how frustrated I am, as I expect you are too. I will do everything possible to be back in the best shape and help the team.”
This comes as a heartbreak for Mount, especially considering the fact that he was sidelined for a large part of the season following his £55 million move from Chelsea in July 2023.
Meanwhile, Manchester United recently completed a deal to sign another midfielder in Manuel Ugarte from Paris Saint-Germain.
