Super Eagles optimism to secure the Nigerian-born Chelsea winger Noni Madueke has been dampened as England has invited him to link up with the Three Lions for the upcoming UEFA Nations League games.
Madueke has been playing for the Three Lions at various youth levels, including the U21 team; however, he was born in England to a Nigerian father.
Madueke’s Rising Profile
Madueke has been selected for the Three lions team in line with his current form that has been displayed at Chelsea.
In a previous report from Sportsbuddy, the Chelsea winger scored in the UEFA Conference League play-off versus Servette before scoring a hat trick vs. Wolves in the Premier League.
His physicality has seen him receive this first senior invite, and it is getting tougher and tougher for the Nigeria FA to convince him to switch to the Super Eagles.
A Strong Line-Up for England
In addition to Madueke, other young talents such as Taiwo Awoniyi’s Nottingham Forest teammate Morgan Gibbs-White, Manchester United Academy product Angel Gomes, and Newcastle United defender Tino Livramento have been invited to the senior team for the first time.
England are scheduled to play against Ireland on the 7th of September at the Aviva Stadium before engaging in a match against Finland on the 10th of September to be hosted in Wembley.
