Goalkeeper of Bendel Insurance Football Club, Amas Obasogie, has expressed his joy over his call-up into the Nigeria national team under the new head coach of the Super Eagles, Bruno Labbadia.
In a previous report from Sportsbuddy, the Nigeria Football Federation has confirmed the German tactician as head coach of the Super Eagles.
This is the second time Obasogie has received an invitation to the Super Eagles squad after the first invitation was in the November period.
Reflecting on His Journey and Late Mother’s Influence
Obasogie took to Twitter to thank his loved ones for their support, saying his mother’s prayers had made it possible.
He wrote in a tweet, ”The son of a praying mother even in death, the prayers still dey flow.”
The young man, 24 years old, was touched by the opportunity and is elated to be in the Super Eagles’ camp again.
Obasogie’s Impressive NPFL Record
Obasogie is now among the best shot stoppers in the NPFL group of the Nigeria Premier Football League.
Based on his performances during the previous 2023/24 season, he received the accolade of the Golden Glove with 18 clean sheets, which was a record as more than the 16 clean sheets that were set by Adewale Adeyinka.
Obasogie will be competing with the Nigerian national team’s choice goalkeeper, Maduka Okoye, of Udinese, and Chippa United’s Stanley Nwabali, who is currently the first-choice keeper.
