Chelsea have sent an awkward message to Raheem Sterling following his last-minute switch to London rivals Arsenal.
Sports Buddy previously reported that Arsenal and Chelsea were in negotiations hours before the transfer deadline, in a deal that will see the 29-year-old winger move to the club on loan.
The deal was finally completed, and Sterling will reunite with Mikel Arteta, with whom he worked at Manchester City.
Chelsea’s message to Raheem Sterling
Following the confirmation of his transfer to Arsenal, Chelsea simply said, ”Good luck Raheem, ” in what may be perceived as a cold statement.
The remaining part of the statement explains the deal, which reads, “Chelsea winger Raheem Sterling has completed a season-long loan move to Arsenal.
“Raheem joined the Blues from Manchester City in the summer of 2022 and has scored 19 goals across 81 appearances.
“He will now spend the remainder of the campaign at the Emirates,” as quoted by The Mirror.
What led to Sterling’s shock move to Arsenal/
Sterling’s move to Arsenal comes after he was surprisingly dropped from Enzo Maresca’s first-team squad at Chelsea.
Despite featuring in the Blues’ preseason tour, the 29-year-old winger was excluded from the starting lineup for their opening match against Manchester City.
This unexpected decision raised questions, and Sterling’s camp issued a statement seeking clarification.
Maresca subsequently revealed that the former Manchester City player was not part of his plans, leaving Sterling with no choice but to find a new club.
With his loan move to Arsenal now complete, Sterling will be looking to impress his former manager and contribute to the Gunners’ quest for their first Premier League title since 2004.
