Ivan Toney has bagged one of the biggest deals for an English footballer with his latest move to Al-Ahli.
It was only on the last day of the English Premier League transfer window that the Saudi Arabian club finalised the deal with Brentford at £40 million.
Toney, who had been sidelined at Brentford amid transfer speculation, joined Al-Ahli on a three-year deal and would be paid £327,000 per week. This staggering salary will see him pocket £51 million over the course of his contract.
Ranking Among England’s Highest-Paid Footballers
According to The Sun, Ivan Toney’s new contract puts him third among the highest paid English footballers globally.
The first is Harry Kane, now at Bayern Munich, and he takes home £410,000 every week. In the second position, Jude Bellingham, who joined Real Madrid, is not far behind with about £340,000 weekly wage.
Fourth from the list is the player Raheem Sterling, who signed on loan for Arsenal recently, and he receives £325,000 in weekly wages shared between Arsenal and Chelsea.
Meanwhile, Sportsbuddy earlier highlighted three key areas Raheem Sterling will address for the Gunners.
Financial Influence of the Premier League
Toney’s contract highlights the significant financial power of English footballers, especially those in the English Premier League.
England players such as Marcus Rashford and Jack Grealish are in the top ten highest-paid stars with £300K per weekly wage, whereas Mason Mount, John Stones, Reece James, and Jadon Sancho are paid £250K per week.
The influx of talent into Saudi Arabian clubs and the Premier League’s competitive wages underscore the global appeal and financial allure of top-tier football.
