Jadon Sancho has revealed who convinced him to join Chelsea on loan in the just concluded transfer window. The England international made a deadline-day loan move to Chelsea with the option of a permanent deal.
He said that Blues’ boss, manager, Enzo Maresca, was the reason for his move to Stamford Bridge.
Sancho will now don the number 19 jersey for the Blues, following the completion of his loan move.
What Jadon Sancho said
Speaking in an interview after the switch, the 25-year-old winger expressed how delighted he is to be a new member of Chelsea’s team, while also revealing what allured him to make the move.
“Enzo Maresca really drew me to the project. I knew him from his time with Pep Guardiola in Manchester City,” he said, as quoted by Goal.
“He spoke to me on the phone about this project and what he was building here, and for a young player like myself it’s exciting and I can’t wait to get started,” he added.
At Chelsea, Sancho will face stiff competition for a starting spot from a group of talented young wingers.
While Jadon Sancho made his way into Chelsea’s squad, Raheem Sterling also left the club for London rivals Arsenal in a season loan deal.
