Italian legend Fabio Cannavaro has disclosed that he turned down an opportunity to be the head coach of the Nigeria Super Eagles recently.
The former Juventus and Real Madrid defender, acknowledged as being one of the all-time great defenders in football, presently prefers to wait for potentiality within Europe before looking at other opportunities worldwide.
Cannavaro’s Preference for European Clubs
In an interview with La Gazzetta dello Sport, Cannavaro revealed that he has been invited to coach many teams after leaving the club of Udinese in May 2024, including the Nigerian national team as well as clubs in Iran.
“I had offers from Nigeria [national team] and Iranian clubs, but I want to wait for Serie A and European clubs until December. After that, I may start travelling again,” said the Italian.
However, the 2006 World Cup winner is waiting for the chance to go back to serie A or another European league till December.
