Galatasaray striker Mauro Icardi has caused a stir with his cryptic Instagram post, which appears to be aiming a dig at the club’s new signing, Victor Osimhen.
Icardi’s cryptic message
The post was shared on Wednesday, the same day Osimhen was unveiled by the club in a stylish video.
Icardi wrote on his Instagram page,
“The lion dominates in silence, while dogs bark to attract attention.”
Many have taken Icardi’s post, which included a picture of him with a lion’s face, as a covert jab at Osimhen, his new colleague, whose presence has subsequently created a lot of buzz.
The timing of Icardi’s message is particularly suspicious, considering it coincided with Osimhen’s highly-celebrated transfer announcement.

Osimhen’s loan move to Galatasaray was preceded by a drama involving Chelsea and Al Ahli around the transfer deadline, which prevented him from realising his desire of leaving Napoli.
Following his apparent unsuccessful attempt to force his way out of the club, the 25-year-old was exiled from Napoli’s squad.
But Galatasaray came knocking, and the Nigerian striker agreed to join the Turkish giants on a season-long loan.
Osimhen faces competition with Icardi, the club’s top scorer for the previous season, for a starting place in attack.
However, both players could partner upfront when the Argentine, who is currently injured, returns to full fitness.
