Despite being axed from the Blue’s first team, defender Ben Chilwell has been given a second chance at Chelsea.
The £50 million defender has been included in the club’s 25-man Premier League squad, suggesting a potential return to the first team under manager Enzo Maresca.
This comes after the club failed to find a new club for him during the summer transfer window.
Chilwell’s last appearance for Chelsea was a brief cameo in the FA Cup semi-final against Manchester City in April. He was then exiled from the first team along with 12 other high-profile players as the club’s squad ballooned to 42 players.

Chelsea managed to offload many of these players before the close of the summer transfer window, with Raheem Sterling joining Arsenal, Trevoh Chalobah going on loan to Crystal Palace, and Kepa Arrizabalaga also securing a loan move to Bournemouth.
But Chilwell will remain at Chelsea until at least January after the club failed to find a buyer for him during the transfer window.
His long-term future at Stamford Bridge is uncertain, with Marc Cucurella and Levi Colwill currently ahead of him in the pecking order at left-back.
Despite being told he had no future at the club just a few weeks ago, there is now a possibility that Chilwell could earn a reprieve and stay at Chelsea.
Chelsea boss on Chilwell’s situationMaresca said, addressing the 27-year-old defender’s situation with the club, as quoted by The Sun,
“Ben is now probably the only one that is still here. We are going to sit with him and find a solution because he is the only one.
“He is probably going to be back with us in a training session, we will see, because right now he is not training with us.
“The idea was for him to leave but because he didn’t find a solution, he is probably going to start to train with us. If we decide that, he is going to be one of the players.”
Meanwhile, Chelsea will make the trip to Bournemouth this weekend, with the aim of taking all three points, as they look to make it two away league wins in a row.
