2024 Ballon d’Or nominee Rodri has named Arsenal’s Declan Rice and Jorginho among his favorite central midfielders in the world.
Regarded as one of the best midfield players in the world, the Manchester City player has won 11 titles in his four seasons playing under Pep Guardiola.
Rodri picks his best midfielders
Ahead of Man City’s Premier League clash with Brentford on Saturday, Rodri told ESPN via Metro,
“If you ask me names I think I would not be fair because I will leave some ones that deserve it,” the 28-year-old replied when asked about his favorites midfielders.
“But I don’t know… let’s say, right now, Declan [Rice] I like a lot, what he does. Even though it’s not the same role I do.
“I love Jorginho, when he was in the best shape.
“In the past, for example, I would say [Sergio] Busquets, Casemiro, Xabi Alonso, these kinds of players that can manage the game.”
Meanwhile, the 28-year-old Spaniard has been backed to win the Ballon d’Or by Sergio Aguero, who believes his former teammate deserves the award.
City boss Pep Guardiola also endorsed his player to win the prestigious accolade.
