Speculations have emerged that there is unrest between the club’s minority shareholder and the president, Todd Boehly, and Clearlake, the majority shareholder, as reported earlier by Sportsbuddy.

Ex-Chelsea forward Joe Cole expressed his worries about this schism, believing that it will make the head coach’s work with Enzo Maresca even more difficult.

Behdad Eghbali and Jose E. Feliciano’s Clearlake have 61%. has a 5% stake in the club and is believed to be keen on making further investment, while Boehly is rumoured to seek to acquire them.

Joe Cole’s Concerns on Maresca’s Role

Interviewed by TNT Sports, Cole warned that the internal conflict might destabilise Maresca’s work and his ability to work with the large number of players in the Chelsea team.

He noted, “I think that clearly at the club, it’s disjointed. There are different factions going on, and that will filter down. It’s just the case of how much.”

Cole further highlighted how uncertainty over player futures adds pressure: “It will be enormous uncertainty, and that simply increases that with the fans, with the players.”

Chelsea signs Jadon Sancho from Manchester United

Since Boehly and Clearlake acquired the club in 2022, Chelsea has spent more than one billion pounds on incomings.

In the current summer only, they have signed 11 new players, such as Pedro Neto, Joao Felix, Jadon Sancho, and Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall, among others.

Still, Cole feels that the internal power struggle will complicate matters at the spearhead of handling such an expansive team, most of whom are unsure of their club’s future.

It is said that Boehly planned to keep Mauricio Pochettino as the manager after Chelsea’s disappointing sixth place last season, but the Clearlake chiefs refused his suggestion.
