Ballon d’Or contender Ademola Lookman continued to impress as he helped Atalanta to a crucial victory against Fiorentina on Sunday.
The 26-year-old winger provided an assist to help the Nerazzurri get back on level terms before going on to score the match winner as the home side emerged 3-2 winners.

Lookman has been in top form lately, contributing to four goals in his last three games, including a brace while on international duty for Nigeria against Benin Republic.
Ademola Lookman boosts Ballon d’Or, CAF POTY chances
This comes after the winger joined a host of Nigerian players who have made the Ballon d’Or list, following an impressive 2023-2024 campaign with Atalanta.
The former Fulham attacker helped Gian Piero Gasperini’s side to their first European Trophy after becoming the first player to score a hattrick in a one-legged UEFA Europa League final.
As the Ballon d’Or ceremony approaches on October 28th, Lookman will aim to capitalize on his impressive performances to secure a high ranking among the top finishers and perhaps surpass Victor Osimhen’s eighth-place finish as the highest ever-ranked Nigerian for the award.
The winger, who was the only African player on the recently released 30-man list, is also the favourite to win the CAF African Men’s Player of the Year award, and with his incredible display against Fiorentina, he gets closer to clinching the award.
