Super Eagles defender Bruno Onyemachi has stirred controversy with his comment after calling out Chelsea owner Todd Boehly following his first goal of the season for Boavista in Portugal’s Primeira Liga.
The 25-year-old Nigerian international scored the game’s first goal on Monday night during an intriguing 2-2 draw with Estrela da Amadora.

This performance is a follow-up on his impressive display for the Super Eagles during the recent international break, in which he helped Nigeria secure consecutive clean sheets in games against Rwanda and Benin Republic.

However, Onyemaechi’s social media activity after the game was what really grabbed attention.
The left-back took to his account on X to celebrate his goal, also asking people to help him reach out to Chelsea owner Boehly.
“Scored my first goal of the season today, make una help me tag Todd Boehly abeg I wan see something,” the post read.

Onyeamachi’s post could be interpreted as a lighthearted joke, given Chelsea’s busy transfer activities under the American’s ownership.
Many believe the Blues’ large squad prior to the season was a result of signing numerous players, including those with low-profile backgrounds, with the son of a former Super Eagles defender recently joining the club.

However, the left back received backlash for his post from fans who believe it was an insensitive and unprofessional move.
Such a comment could be seen as disrespectful to his current club, as it might be perceived as a public plea to join the English club.
