Conor Gallagher has expressed his contentment after leaving Chelsea, stating that he finally feels “very wanted and appreciated.”
The midfielder, who was a lifelong fan of the Blues, departed Stamford Bridge this summer as Chelsea needed to raise funds.
Chelsea’s Decision to Offload Gallagher
Despite Gallagher’s commitment to Chelsea, the player’s former team’s coach Enzo Maresca said the player did not suit his tactical style.
Following a protracted transfer window involving players such as Samu Omorodion and Joao Felix, Gallagher finally moved to Atletico Madrid, with Felix moving back to Chelsea.
Conor Gallagher’s move was heavily discussed as a financial one, as it was known to bring “pure profit” to the club.
Thriving at Atletico Madrid
Since moving to Atletico Madrid, Gallagher has scored a goal and seems to be happy in Spain.
He stated to The Athletic that he has no doubts about the new environment, as he stressed that it is a good step for him to join Atletico since he will be able to play Champions League football and to win trophies.
“It just builds me with even more confidence and happiness to play my best football. I’m really happy to be here, and I’m settling in well. I’ve loved my first few weeks. I knew Atletico was always a massive club, a top club in La Liga and doing well in the Champions League. So I was excited to join.
