Cristiano Ronaldo has once again emphasised his love for Afrobeats by using Nigerian artist Asake’s hit single ‘Active’ in an Instagram story promoting his YouTube channel.
Elevating Asake’s Global Reach
Asake, an afrobeats singer, released a song titled Active in the album Lungu Boy, which was perfectly suitable for Ronaldo’s video, hence increasing the song’s popularity.
Less than four hours after the post, Asake immediately reposted the video on his Social media. The clip went viral immediately, receiving 1.9 million likes with more than 20 thousand comments.

It was quickly responded to by Nigerian celebrity Cubana Chief Priest, who simply commented “Active” underneath the post.

A Growing Affinity for Afrobeats
It is not the first time for Ronaldo to be linked with Afrobeats. The football legend took to his social media page in March 2023 and shared a video of his children dancing to Rema’s Calm Down.
Asake’s music is also a favourite of other football players too, and Liverpool’s Virgil Van Dijk was spotted dancing to Asake’s Organise.
This persistent participation by world celebrities like Ronaldo in Afrobeats shows the expansion of the Afrobeats genre globally.
