Napoli’s sporting director, Giovanni Manna, has admitted that the club was initially reluctant to loan out striker Victor Osimhen.
Despite strong interest from Premier League giants Chelsea, Napoli resisted the move on transfer deadline day.
However, just a few days later, Osimhen sealed a season-long loan deal with Turkish Super Lig champions Galatasaray. This unexpected transfer came after Napoli’s initial hesitation to part ways with the talented Nigerian forward.
Manna disclosed that the Partenopei were forced to allow Osimhen join Galatasaray when they received the offer.
Mana on Victor Osimhen Galatasaray move
According to Tuttomercatoweb, Manna said,
“It was an opportunity. The market was closed in Europe, and Galatasaray approached us as soon as our summer session ended.
“At first, we were hesitant, as similar proposals had surfaced throughout the window, but neither we nor Victor were keen on a loan.
Victor Osimhen has quickly settled into life in Istanbul since joining Galatasaray. He made a positive impression at RAMS Park in his debut match against Rizespor, providing an assist.
The 2023 AFCON winner will be aiming to contribute to Galatasaray’s upcoming game against Fenerbahce on Saturday.
