Mikel Arteta has a lot of things to talk about on after his Arsenal side were denied a crucial victory at the Etihad Stadium in a dramatic Premier League clash.
The Gunners went into the game full of hope, looking to secure three points against Manchester City, but the encounter ended in a frustrating 2-2 draw that left fans on edge.
It was a night of mixed emotions for the Arsenal faithful, who saw their team battle back from an early setback. City, as expected, came out firing, with Erling Haaland making his presence felt almost immediately.
The towering Norwegian struck early, putting the hosts ahead within minutes. Arsenal, however, responded with resilience, as Riccardo Calafiori, making his first Premier League start, brought the game level with a well-taken goal. Gabriel Magalhães then powered the Gunners into the lead just before halftime, raising hopes of a famous win.
But the game took a significant turn when Leandro Trossard was controversially sent off. With Arsenal reduced to 10 men, the momentum shifted back to City. The Gunners fought valiantly, defending deep and trying to hold on, but a late stoppage-time goal from John Stones left Arteta and his players deflated.
What Mikel Arteta Has To Say
Speaking after the match, Mikel Arteta acknowledged that the team had a difficult start, pointing out that they struggled to control key areas of the pitch and were unable to handle City’s pressure effectively, particularly after going a man down.
“We had a very difficult start. We struggled to control certain spaces; we didn’t have enough ability. We adapted to that context in the best possible way,” Daily Post reported.
“I’m so proud of them. You cannot be given a more difficult situation against that opponent and I’m so proud of my team.”
