Riccardo Calafiori sets an all-time record by becoming the first-ever Italian to score in the Manchester City – Arsenal fixture in history.
On his first start for The Gunners, the 22-year-old fired home a sensational shot from the outside of the box to cancel out Erling Haaland’s opener in the 2-2 draw at the Ethiad on Sunday.

Calafiori, set up by Gabriel Martinelli following a quickly taken Arsenal free-kick, unleashed a first time shot with his his left foot, which nestled beautifully into the far corner, and beyond the reach of Ederson in the City goal.

The Italian becomes the first of his countrymen to score in this particular fixture in any profession competition. The likes of current teammate Jorginho has played for the Gunners against Manchester City but failed to score.
Manchester City has also had their own players from Italy, who have all also failed to score for them against Arsenal. Mario Balotelli is the most featured italian for them but none of his 30 goals in the City shirt came against Arsenal.

An impressive record to behold for Calafiori, who also achieved it on his first Arsenal start, after completing a £42 million from Bologna in the summer.
