Getafe President Angel Torres has brushed off Nigerian striker Christantus Uche’s allegations of racial abuse in agreement with assistant manager Patri Moreno.
In a chat with ESPN, Uche accused that he faced racial slurs while playing in La Liga.
According to Torres and Moreno, Uche’s accusations are not trustworthy because of his supposed poor command of the Spanish language.
Christantus Uche’s allegations were dismissed
Since departing for Spain in 2022, Uche has been playing and has had a two-stop career first with Moralo and Ceuta before moving on to Getafe.
However, Torres claimed that Uche couldn’t properly understand or report what took place, saying, “He doesn’t understand Spanish yet.”
“I don’t want to justify him, but someone who doesn’t speak Spanish and (who) gets the microphone stuck in front of him… The journalist who asks him those things… (Uche says) Well, what he everyone hears is that the referees are very bad, and he decides to just say that.”

Torres Defends Referees and Dismisses Racism Claims
Torres implied that the comments from Uche, which took aim at referees, were misjudged and perhaps spurred on by the media.
Torres said, speaking to Sports, “My press officers are as much to blame for not being there and listening to it (during the interview) as the journalist who asks that question to a kid who arrived a month and a half ago.
But hey, I’ll talk to him and listen to the interview… and I’ll tell him that he’s completely mistaken.
Although it is not the right question to ask a boy who has just arrived, it does not justify him having to speak badly about the referees or anyone.”
Although Torres’ response was intended to shield the club from potential disciplinary action from the Spanish FA.
