Mikel Arteta provides update on latest Arsenal injuries in the wake of their Carabao Cup success over Bolton.
The Spaniard has expressed concerns over the availability of the trio of David Raya, Ben White and Jurrien Timber this weekend when Arsenal play host to Leicester City in the Premier League.
The trio missed the 5-1 Carabao Cup win over Bolton Wonderers on Wednesday night in the Emirates and were all replaced by Academy players in Jack Porter, Josh Nichols and Myles Lewis-Skelly.
With Arsenal already without the likes of Martin Ødegaard and Mikel Merino for the foreseeable future, Arteta is worried that the trio may have to sit out this weekend’s fixture.
Mikel Arteta provides update on Arsenal trio
“We have David [Raya] injured, Neto cup-tied and Tommy [Setford] injured unfortunately, so we have to play him [Jack Porter], but what an opportunity! He’s a great character. He trains with us every single day, so he’s used to it.” – Mikel Arteta said ahead of kickoff last night.
After the game, the Arsenal boss said about David Raya; “We don’t know yet. He’s got a muscular injury so we need to check”.
Summer signing Neto, who missed the Carabao Cup game as he was cup-tied will be between the sticks this weekend if it comes too soon for David Raya.
Jurrien Timber was replaced late in the draw at the Ethiad on Sunday and Saturday’s fixture might come too soon for the Dutchman while Ben White is likely to be back in action.
