“WHO IS DOING THE DEFENDING? ME AND YOU ?”Enzo Maresca responds to frustrating question about Chelsea duo.
Enzo Maresca has revealed the main reason he can not play both Nicolas Jackson and Christopher Nkunku on the same team, saying the team needs people who can run and defend when out of possession.
Both Jackson and Nkunku have had a fine start to the season. Senegalese striker Jackson has scored four times and added two assists in five Premier League games this season. Only Erling Haaland and Luis Diaz have more goals than him in the competition this season.
Nkunku on the other hand has scored six goals so far in eight games. He is also very fresh from scoring a hat-trick in the 5-0 win over Barrow in the Carabao Cup third round game on Tuesday.

With fans calling for the Frenchman to get more starts in the league, Enzo Maresca has come out to defend his choice in a recent interview.
“WHO IS DOING THE DEFENDING? ME AND YOU ?” Enzo Maresca On Jackson and Nkunku playing together
The Italian former Leicester City boss said;
“The problem is the defensive balance, because we can think of playing with Nicolas, Christo, Joao, Palmer Noni, fantastic but then who is defending? Me and you? We need to run back.
The problem is, I would like to put all of them, because I really like football and I really like to keep the ball. The problem is that when you lose the ball and then you have to defend, not all of them can defend at the same level.”
Nicolas Jackson has started all Premier League games this season while Christopher Nkunku has started in all other competitions. It has so far appeared that this is the plan of Maresca and as long as it works, the manager has nothing to prove to anyone.

Chelsea returns to league action this weekend with a trip to the AMEX to face Brighton, while they have also been confirmed to face the winner of Newcastle United against AFC Wimbledon in the fourth round of the Carabao Cup.
